Bilirubin Blues

Ryan's first pediatrician appointment was Wednesday, January 13th. When we left the hospital he had lost some weight, which is normal, and weighed 6 pounds, 11 ounces. By his first appointment he had gained an ounce, which was a step in the right direction. The doctors did notice that he was a little jaundice though, so we had to get a blood test done to test his bilirubin levels. He was a trooper and didn't cry at all when they pricked his foot and squeezed all of the blood out. The bilirubin levels weren't off the charts by any means, but they did want to see him back on Friday, January 15th to make sure they were coming down instead of going up.

When we went back to the doctor's office on Friday, Ryan had gained 2 1/2 ounces and his bilirubin levels had started to drop. Both of which were great improvements! He didn't cry again during his blood test - what a tough little guy we've got! Here are some pictures from his first week!
