Nine Months

With vacation and a sick baby this past month flew by. We go to the doctor on Monday for Ryan's nine month well baby visit, so I'll update this post with his updated stats then.
This past month Ryan has gotten so much more social. He's flirting, clapping, waving a little bit, and smiles at just about anyone. He reaches out to us a lot more now, and doesn't seem to have any anxiety over strangers yet. He's started eating from the menu at daycare, so he's trying lots of new foods like crackers, cheerios, goldfish, and pasta with butter. They just cut everything up really small and he gums it until he can swallow it. So far he's doing really well with it all. They said he's even fed himself a couple of times, but not consistently (and we haven't seen it at home yet). We've also been working on drinking water from a sippy cup and a regular cup.
He's making progress on the crawling front, but no forward movement yet. This past week he's been getting up on his knees a lot more and is moving from sitting to his stomach a lot. When he does move it's usually either in circles or backwards. It's so cute when he's doing it because he gets this little grin like he knows he's about to do something new and exciting.
Ryan also had his first experience with a nebulizer this month. When we got back from the beach he had a bit of a cold that got much worse over the next couple of weeks. We took him to the doctor and it turns out he had an ear infection and bronchiolitis with some symptoms of RSV (mostly wheezing). So we had to give him nebulizer treatments every four hours for about a week. It made for a long week, but we were finally able to wean him from the treatments this past week and he seems back to normal.
Here are some pictures of Ryan all dressed up for a birthday party we went to last weekend.

  1. Poor guy (and poor mom and dad!) I'm glad he is feeling better though! What a little Chappies you have there--love the button up and jeans! :)
